Chris Greig is a Senior Research Scientist at the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment, Princeton University, and an Associated Faculty member of the High Meadows Environmental Institute (HMEI). Their work focuses on energy transitions, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and the intersection of energy systems with finance and policy. Research interests include energy systems analysis, sustainability, and green chemistry.
Greig's research spans technical, economic, and policy dimensions of decarbonization, addressing challenges like systemic bankability of energy projects, capital allocation for net-zero transitions, and public acceptance of large-scale infrastructure. They lead studies on carbon mitigation strategies, including CO2 capture/transport/storage networks and biogenic negative emissions technologies.
Key areas of exploration include:
- Energy investment frameworks under uncertainty
- Risk management in decarbonization pathways
- Geographic-specific CCS infrastructure design
- Social dynamics of energy transitions
Greig collaborates on high-impact projects like Net Zero Australia, examining infrastructure requirements and regional constraints for decarbonization. Their work emphasizes practical, scalable solutions to achieve climate goals while balancing economic and social factors.
