Chris Felton serves as a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Department of War Studies within the School of Security Studies, Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. With over 25 years of civil service experience across UK government institutions including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, HM Treasury, Cabinet Office, Home Office, and Charity Commission, he specializes in security policy implementation and strategic risk management. Currently employed by the Home Office in London, his work bridges academic research and operational government practice.
His academic qualifications include:

Felton's research concentrates on conflict analysis and security frameworks, with particular expertise in strategic risk mitigation, national infrastructure resilience, and crisis response systems. His leadership of the Child Abuse Image Database (CAID) project represents a significant operational achievement, connecting all UK police forces to a victim identification system that combats online child sexual abuse.
