Professor Chris Clark is a metamorphic geologist at Curtin University, School of Earth and Planetary Sciences. He holds an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship (2017–2028) and previously held an ARC DECRA (2012–2017). His research focuses on high-temperature metamorphism, fluid-rock interactions, and tectonic evolution of orogens like India's Eastern Ghats and Antarctica's Bunger Hills. Clark coordinates courses in Tectonics, Metamorphic Petrology, and Field Mapping. He serves on editorial boards for GEOLOGY, Lithos, and Journal of Metamorphic Geology.
Education: BSc(Hons) and PhD (2001/2006) from University of Adelaide. Awards include the Walter Howchin Medal (2006) and Endeavour Cheung Kong Award (2006).
Research interests include UHT metamorphism mechanisms, crustal anatexis, and Proterozoic tectonics. Over 150 publications span topics like monazite geochemistry, phase equilibria modeling, and fluid migration in orogens. Active field projects in India, Norway, and Antarctica explore granulite evolution and crustal processes.
Awards: Geological Society of America membership, editorial roles, and international collaborations highlight his leadership in metamorphic studies. Research integrates field observations with advanced analytical techniques (e.g., LA-ICP-MS, atom probe tomography).
