Chris Blair serves as a Professor of Communication Arts and Coordinator of Digital Media Studies (DMS) at Union University's College of Arts & Sciences. He oversees the Digital Media Communications and Film Studies academic programs, teaching a diverse curriculum that spans from foundational courses like Interactive Media I to specialized topics including Animation History and Entertainment Industry studies.
Dr. Blair's research interests focus on digital media education, film studies, and communication theory. His expertise encompasses media trends analysis, digital publication design, interactive media development, and the legal frameworks governing communications. His work bridges theoretical understanding with practical application in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
As an active professional in his field, Blair has served on the Board of Directors of the International Digital Media and Arts Association since 2003, holding leadership positions including president and chairman of the board. He regularly presents at conferences on digital media issues and trends, with publications appearing in the International Digital Media and Arts Association Journal and Renewing Minds.
Within the department, Blair teaches multiple courses each semester including Media Theory & Trends, Interactive Media, Publication Design, and Communications Law. He also supervises student internships in photography, digital media, and film/TV production, providing practical industry experience for Communication Arts students.
Dr. Blair is part of a faculty team that includes Ashley Fitch Blair (Chair), Rachael Camp, Ray Eaton, Ted Kluck, Rebekah Whitaker, and Kristi Brookfield. He maintains an office in the JEN building (JEN 312) on Union University's Jackson, Tennessee campus.
