Chloe Johnston is the Chair of Theater and an Associate Professor of Theater and Performance Studies at Lake Forest College. She holds a PhD and MA from Northwestern University and a BA from the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on performance art, experimental theater, and the intersection of cultural studies with activist performance. Johnston has published extensively in journals like TDR and Performance Research, examining topics ranging from Philippe Petit’s Twin Towers walk to literary adaptations like Orlando. She has also authored multiple play collections, including 44 Plays for 44 Presidents. Her creative work includes roles as assistant director for Crowns: The Gospel Musical and co-creator of Mirror City: A Phantom Experiment. Johnston teaches courses such as Theater in Chicago, Acting I, and Introduction to Performance Studies.
