Ching-I Huang serves as a Research Fellow at the University of Warwick within the Zeeman Institute for Systems Biology & Infectious Disease Epidemiology Research (SBIDER), actively contributing to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded Human African Trypanosomiasis Modelling and Economic Predictions for Policy (HAT MEPP) project aimed at eliminating gambiense Human African Trypanosomiasis (gHAT or sleeping sickness) globally.
Her research specialization centers on mathematical epidemiology, with particular focus on identifying driving forces behind host infection patterns and developing effective intervention strategies to disrupt disease transmission cycles. This work integrates advanced mathematical modeling with economic analysis to generate evidence-based policy recommendations for public health decision-making in gHAT-endemic regions.
Based in the Mathematical Sciences Building (Room 5.15), Dr. Huang operates at the critical intersection of quantitative science and tropical disease control, leveraging SBIDER's interdisciplinary environment to address complex challenges in infectious disease elimination through rigorous systems biology approaches.
