Chih-hung (Alex) Chang is a Professor and Associate Head for Undergraduate Programs in the Department of Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering at Oregon State University. He holds the Stephen Slavens Faculty Scholar title and leads the Chang Research Group, focusing on process engineering, scalable nanomanufacturing, and multifunctional materials. His work includes pioneering inkjet printing of solar cells and microreactor-assisted nanomaterial deposition.
Chang earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida (1999) and B.S. from National Taiwan University (1991). His research integrates chemical processes with advanced materials for applications in energy, electronics, and sustainable manufacturing.
Key research areas include bio-inspired antireflective coatings, printable electronics on textiles, and nanomaterial synthesis via microreactors. His innovations have led to awards like the 2022 Alumni Professor Award and Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.
Chang’s contributions span over 70 publications, emphasizing scalable technologies and sustainable solutions. His lab develops next-gen materials for photovoltaics, sensors, and thermal management systems.
