Chiara Gabella

Chiara Gabella is a Lecturer and Head of Team for Research Data Management at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). She works within the SISB-SOAR department in the EPFL Library, focusing on research data management practices and open science initiatives. Gabella also teaches in the EDCH and EDCE educational programs.

Her research combines biophysical studies of cell mechanics with data management frameworks, as evidenced by publications in Nature Physics, Biophysical Journal, and Lab on a Chip. Gabella develops best practices for research data documentation and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams across EPFL and the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics.

Her recent work focuses on open data lifecycle management (2022) and quantitative assessment of data practices (2021), while earlier studies (2011-2016) investigated cytoskeletal mechanics and cell migration dynamics using advanced microscopy techniques.
