Chiara Collesi

Chiara Collesi serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Trieste's Department of Life Sciences (DSV). She actively participates in multiple academic governance structures, including serving as a Member of Boards of Studies for Medical Biotechnology (ME02), Functional Genomics (SM53 and SM53A), and as both Member and External Expert for various cycles of the Molecular Biomedicine Doctoral Program (PHD02).

Her research interests center on molecular biology with specific applications in medical biotechnology and functional genomics. Professor Collesi contributes to cutting-edge research in gene therapy and RNA-based drug technologies, as evidenced by her participation in the National Center for Gene Therapy and Drug Based on RNA Technology project funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. Her work bridges fundamental molecular biology with clinical applications, particularly in the development of novel therapeutic approaches using RNA technology.

Professor Collesi holds an active research role in the National Center for Gene Therapy and Drug Based on RNA Technology project (2022-2026), where she serves as a research participant. This major national initiative focuses on advancing gene therapy approaches and RNA-based pharmaceuticals, positioning her at the forefront of translational biomedical research in Italy. Her involvement spans both the main project and its non-accountable activities component, indicating substantial contribution to this strategic research area.

Within the university structure, Professor Collesi plays significant roles in academic governance across multiple programs. She serves on Boards of Studies for undergraduate and graduate programs including Medical Biotechnology and Functional Genomics, and participates in Doctoral Studies Boards across multiple cycles of the Molecular Biomedicine PhD program, demonstrating her commitment to graduate education and research training in molecular life sciences.
