Cheryl Pauls

Cheryl Pauls serves as President and Professor of Music at Canadian Mennonite University. She began teaching in 1994, specializing in piano and music theory. An active performer, she focuses on contemporary repertoire including works by Berio, Ligeti, and Carter, alongside collaborations with living composers.

Her interdisciplinary research examines intersections between music theory, performance studies, memory, physiology, and liturgical practices. She holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance from University of British Columbia, complemented by degrees in Religious Studies (Mennonite Brethren Bible College), Music (University of Manitoba), and Arts (University of Winnipeg).

Pauls frequently collaborates on multimedia liturgical projects with her husband Bryan Harder. She maintains office C268 and can be contacted at cmupresident@cmu.ca.
