Cheryl Nichols is a Professor of Law at the Howard University School of Law, where she has taught securities regulation, broker-dealer regulation, diversity and global capital markets, and commercial law since 2004. She holds a J.D. from Georgia State University (1992), an M.B.A. from the University of Miami (1983), and a B.A. from Emory University (1980), along with a Certificate in International Business and Commercial Law from the University of Pacific School of Law (1990).
Her research focuses on the intersection of international and domestic securities regulation, securities enforcement, and diversity in the financial services industry, with a particular emphasis on how regulatory frameworks adapt to global challenges and legislative shifts like the Dodd-Frank Act.
Her publications, spanning from 1999 to 2011, reflect her expertise in SEC mandates, federal preemption, arbitration processes, and cross-border regulatory compliance. These works analyze systemic issues in financial regulation, investor protection, and legislative impacts on industry practices.
