Cheryl Alberternst

Cheryl Alberternst is a Lecturer in the Nursing Department at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO), where she has taught since January 2012. She specializes in the online RN-BSN program and occasionally teaches courses in the traditional BSN program, including UI412 American Health Care System.

Her research and teaching interests focus on nursing education, with expertise in oncology, medical-surgical, and critical care nursing. She integrates practical healthcare system knowledge into her courses.

Cheryl has over 21 years of clinical experience, including roles as an oncology nurse, ICU nurse, and Assistant Nurse Manager at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She also has per-diem experience in St. Louis hospitals and private duty home care.

Outside academia, she emphasizes family life, spending time with grandchildren, and enjoys mountain and beach retreats with her husband and two dogs.
