Cherine Fahd is Associate Professor in Visual Communication at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) within the Faculty of Design and Society. A leading photographic artist and academic, she explores the social and affective dimensions of image-making through practice-based research.

Research Focus: Her work interrogates photographic representation in contexts ranging from Middle Eastern diasporas to maternal imagery, with recent projects examining social distancing, grief documentation, and algorithmic image production. She has produced photobooks like A Portrait is a Puzzle (2017) and the award-winning Apókryphos (2019).
Scientific Contributions: Supported by Creative Australia and Create NSW grants, she has held residencies at Carriageworks and Asialink. Her 2025 article Queer World Making analyzes Middle Eastern diasporic art, while 2024 works explore fetal imagery and social media photography ethics.
