Chenyang Shen

Chenyang Shen, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), where he is affiliated with the Division of Medical Physics and Engineering. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Yangzhou University, and both his master’s and Ph.D. from Hong Kong Baptist University. After completing a medical physics residency at UT Southwestern, he joined the faculty, contributing to both clinical and research missions.

Dr. Shen's research is centered on advancing radiotherapy through artificial intelligence and machine learning. His primary interests include intelligent automatic treatment planning, medical imaging and image processing, deep learning applications in medical physics, and optimization techniques for radiation therapy. He has pioneered the use of deep reinforcement learning for inverse treatment planning and developed models for synthetic CT generation, online adaptive radiotherapy, and dose verification.

The trend in Dr. Shen’s recent publications (2020–2024) reflects a strong focus on AI-driven solutions in radiation oncology, particularly in deep learning for image reconstruction, federated learning, model compression, and adaptive therapy systems. His work integrates clinical data with advanced computational models to improve treatment accuracy and efficiency.
