Dr. Chenxi Yu is a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (Germany) since October 2023, focusing on biogeochemical processes in mangrove ecosystems. Previously, she worked as a postdoc at the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology (Chinese Academy of Sciences) from 2021 to 2023. She holds a Doctorate in Environmental Science from Sun Yat-sen University (China) and a Master's in Physical Geography from Guizhou Normal University.
- Doctor in Environmental Science, Sun Yat-sen University (2013-2020)
- Master in Physical Geography, Guizhou Normal University (2010-2013)
- Bachelor in Chemical Engineering, Qiqihar University (2006-2010)
Her research examines the stability and storage of 'Blue Carbon' in mangroves, fine root biogeochemical cycling, and remote sensing modeling of carbon stocks. She investigates climate change impacts on mangrove carbon pools through fieldwork and lab analysis.
Recent publications highlight her work on mangrove carbon dynamics, nitrogen fixation in sediments, and impacts of invasive species like Spartina alterniflora on nutrient cycles. Her studies often integrate remote sensing techniques and ecological modeling to assess carbon sequestration potential in coastal systems.
Dr. Yu has served as a reviewer for journals such as Global Ecology and Biogeography, Catena, and Remote Sensing.
