Dr. Cheng Yong Tang is a Professor and Curtis Senior Research Fellow at the Fox School of Business and Management, Temple University, within the Department of Statistics, Operations, and Data Science. He serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Statistical Association and Journal of Business & Economic Statistics. His research focuses on empirical likelihood, longitudinal data analysis, high-dimensional inference, nonparametric methods, and applications in finance, econometrics, and machine learning.
Dr. Tang has published over 30 articles in top journals such as the Journal of Econometrics, Annals of Statistics, and Biometrika. His research is supported by NSF grants, including projects on longitudinal data analysis and ensemble learning methods. He has received prestigious awards including the 2019 ICSA President’s Citation Award, Fox School Dean’s Research Honor Roll, and National University of Singapore’s Young Scientist Award. He also holds leadership roles, such as directing Temple’s Graduate Programs in Statistics from 2016–2019.
His academic contributions span statistical methodology development, with a focus on addressing practical challenges in data science. He teaches advanced graduate courses in probability theory, stochastic processes, and high-dimensional inference.
