Dr. Cheng Yen Loo is a Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia (UWA) within the School of Allied Health and the WA Centre for Health & Ageing (WACHA). Her work focuses on ageing, social care policy, falls prevention, and culturally diverse communities. She leads the MRFF Safe Recovery Project, a falls prevention initiative across WA and Victoria, and contributes to the FECH+ Program, evaluating post-hospital discharge support for carers. She holds a PhD in Sociology from UWA (2020–2023) and is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Edith Cowan University (2022–2025).
Her research integrates social justice theory and migration studies, emphasizing cultural sensitivity in healthcare policy. Key areas include caregiver wellbeing, religion/spirituality in care, and intergenerational family dynamics. She has presented at conferences such as the Australian Sociological Association Annual Conference and Age Friendly Australia National Conference, showcasing her interdisciplinary approach to healthy ageing.
Publications span peer-reviewed journals like Health Promotion International and JAMA Network Open, focusing on hospital safety, caregiver support, and ethnic minority ageing. She actively participates in cross-disciplinary collaborations to bridge clinical and sociological perspectives in healthcare innovation.
