Dr. Cheng Wang is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Computing Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UEA), specializing in Computer Graphics, Geometry Processing, and Computational Design. He holds a PhD from KAUST (2023) and a Bachelor's degree in Automation from Tsinghua University. His research bridges graphics, vision, and bioinformatics, focusing on geometric computing, 3D mesh representations, and interdisciplinary applications in architecture and AI.
He serves as Deputy Senior Adviser for the School of Computing Sciences and Ethics reviewer for the Faculty of Science. Dr. Wang leads the AHRC IAA Theme Fund project (2025-2026) on Digital Preservation and Immersive Heritage, leveraging UEA’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) resources. Recent projects include consultancy for algorithm design in bespoke software and collaborative work on architectural structures via quad meshes.
His research outputs emphasize architectural geometry, mesh optimization, and immersive digitization, with publications in ACM SIGGRAPH and Computer-Aided Design. He actively supervises PhD students and offers opportunities in bioinformatics, AI, and computational fabrication. His lab focuses on advancing geometric algorithms for real-world applications in architecture and digital preservation.
