Professor Cheng Sun is a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern University's McCormick School of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering from Penn State University, an M.S. and B.S. in Physics from Nanjing University. His research focuses on interdisciplinary advancements in nanotechnology, additive manufacturing, optics, and biomedical engineering. Key projects include developing nano-scale fabrication techniques, 3D-printed bioresorbable medical devices, and high-resolution imaging systems like super-resolution microscopes and visible-light OCT. His work addresses clinical challenges such as tissue regeneration and deep-tissue imaging. Dr. Sun leads a team that integrates robotics and nanophotonics to create next-generation medical tools.
