Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech)معرفی
Dr. Chen Hao is an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), where he serves as a doctoral supervisor. Previously, he completed postdoctoral training at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on epigenetic mechanisms in human disease, particularly tumor development and metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity.
Dr. Chen received his academic training at prestigious Chinese institutions:
- PhD in Molecular Biology & Disease Proteomics, Fudan University (2013)
- B.S. in Biology, Wuhan University (2008)
Dr. Chen's research program investigates epigenetic mechanisms underlying human diseases, with a particular focus on novel epigenetic modifications and their regulatory enzymes. His lab employs biochemical techniques combined with multi-omics approaches to identify and characterize RNA/DNA epigenetic modification enzymes. Key research areas include:
- Epigenetic mechanisms in cancer development
- Novel RNA/DNA epigenetic modifications and their modulators
- Metabolic disease epigenetics (diabetes, obesity, hypertension)
- mRNA translation mechanisms and mRNA drug development
Analysis of Dr. Chen's recent publications reveals a strong focus on RNA epigenetics, particularly m6A methylation and related modifications. His work spans structural biology of methyltransferases (METTL4, METTL5, METTL15), functional studies of RNA modification enzymes, and exploration of how epigenetic dysregulation contributes to diseases including cancer, metabolic disorders, and cardiovascular conditions. His research often bridges basic molecular mechanisms with potential clinical applications.
Dr. Chen has received several prestigious awards and honors:
- Guangdong Province "Pearl River Talent" Young Top-notch Talent
- Shenzhen "Peacock Plan" Overseas High-level Talent
- National Scholarship from Chinese Ministry of Education (2012)
- Magna cum Laude from Fudan University (2013)
- F1000 recommended paper for METTL4 research
Dr. Chen has secured significant research funding, serving as principal investigator for National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and as sub-project leader for National Key R&D Program initiatives. His collaborative research spans multiple disciplines, connecting epigenetics with cancer biology, metabolic disease, and stem cell research. He actively mentors graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in his laboratory.
Dr. Chen leads a research group focused on epigenetic mechanisms at SUSTech, utilizing advanced biochemical and multi-omics approaches. His team works at the intersection of basic epigenetic research and translational applications, seeking to identify novel epigenetic targets for therapeutic intervention in cancer and metabolic diseases.
