Chen Chen

Chen Chen is a Research Fellow at the Department of Computer Science and Technology, University of Cambridge, working under the supervision of Prof. Richard Mortier in the System Research Group (SRG).

Chen's research spans Serverless Computing, Cloud/Edge Computing, Network Resource Orchestration, In-network Computing, Distributed Systems, and Mobile Networks. Their current work focuses on optimizing resource orchestration in serverless edge computing environments to improve latency and energy consumption metrics. At Cambridge, Chen contributes to the Horizon Europe-funded EDGELESS Computing project and leads several Innovate UK initiatives including Smart Manufacturing Data Hub and Intelligent Edge of Things.

Chen actively participates in the academic community as a TPC member and reviewer for major conferences and journals including ICDCS 2024, IEEE MSN 2023, and IEEE TSC. Their professional affiliations include IEEE membership, Senior Member status at St Edmunds College, Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, and Guest Lecturer position at Loughborough University.

Chen has substantial teaching experience across multiple courses including Distributed Systems, Cloud Computing, Team Project, and Principles of Communications, with supervision experience for both master's students and undergraduates. Current research projects encompass the EU Horizon Internet of Digital Twin Things, Innovate UK Smart Manufacturing Data Hub, and Serverless Edge Computing for 5G Edge Devices.
