معرفی
Dr. Chen Cao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas), affiliated with the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. She holds a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Peking University and bachelor's and master's degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Southeast University, China. Her postdoctoral training at Princeton University’s Lewis-Sigler Institute focused on cell lineage reconstruction using single-cell sequencing and Ciona nervous system evolution. Recruited via CPRIT funding, she leads the Cao Lab, which develops single-cell omics, imaging, and microfluidics tools to study lineage commitment, cell type evolution, and cancer development.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Biophysics, Peking University, 2016
- M.Eng. in Biomedical Engineering, Southeast University, 2011
- B.Eng. in Biomedical Engineering, Southeast University, 2008
Research Interests: Dr. Cao’s work spans single-cell sequencing, bioinformatics, developmental biology, and cancer evolution. Her lab investigates embryogenesis gene regulatory networks and cancer heterogeneity using advanced tools like microfluidics and imaging. Recent studies include cell type evolution in proto-vertebrates and histology-resolved tumor profiling.
Awards:
- Pathway to Independence Awards (K99/R00) from NICHD
Labs/Teams: The Cao Lab collaborates on cutting-edge projects, including SMD-Seq for cancer morphology analysis and interfacial nanoinjection for single-cell studies. Openings exist for students and researchers interested in bioengineering and developmental biology.
