Dr. Chase Figley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. His research focuses on advanced neuroimaging methods to investigate structural and functional brain changes in conditions like obesity and multiple sclerosis.
- BSc in Chemistry, University of Saskatchewan (2001-2005)
- PhD in Neuroscience, Queen’s University (2005-2010)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuroscience, Johns Hopkins University (2010-2013)
Dr. Figley specializes in cognitive neuroscience, exploring disease-related cognitive decline through techniques such as diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), functional MRI (fMRI), and myelin water imaging (MWI). His work integrates machine learning with structural and functional brain connectivity studies to understand neurological disorders.
As a Principal Investigator in the neuroscience research program and a core member of the biomedical engineering graduate program, Dr. Figley mentors graduate students and collaborates across disciplines. His cross-appointments include adjunct faculty roles in the Department of Physiology and Pathophysiology (Max Rady College of Medicine) and the Department of Psychology (Faculty of Arts).
