Chase Anthony Brame serves as a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of English Linguistics and Literature at the University of Miskolc's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for the 2023-2024 academic year. Selected by Georgetown University and the U.S. Department of State for this visiting fellowship, his position is facilitated through the U.S. Embassy in Budapest.
His educational background includes:
- M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Greensboro College, USA (2017)
- B.A. in Spanish Linguistics & B.Sc. in Comparative Politics from Appalachian State University, USA (2012)
Chase's research focuses on the evolving role of English as a global language. His work examines how English functions as a lingua franca across diverse cultural and educational contexts. He has particular expertise in multilingual writing practices and innovative approaches to English composition pedagogy. His MA Thesis, 'Progressive Methods in Teaching English as an International Language,' critically analyzed contemporary facets of English as a Foreign Language pedagogy in light of English's rapid spread as a global lingua franca.
Throughout his international teaching career spanning multiple continents, Chase has developed specialized knowledge in Written Corrective Feedback techniques for educators and active learning methodologies in the EFL classroom. His teaching philosophy emphasizes practical application, cultural awareness, and adapting instruction to meet the needs of linguistically diverse students in global contexts.
