Charlotte Vrijen is an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, specializing in Developmental Psychology. Her research focuses on positive bias, optimism, mental health, and intergenerational transmission of social experiences. She investigates how individual differences in positive bias arise and their role in mental health outcomes, particularly in adolescents. Dr. Vrijen's work also addresses bullying, substance use, and genetic/environmental influences, leveraging large datasets like the TRAILS cohort. She holds a Veni grant (2022) and has received awards for her contributions to open science and research integrity. Her teaching includes courses on systematic reviews and longitudinal data analysis.
