Charlotte Streck

Charlotte Streck is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Potsdam's Chair of International Relations (Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences). She holds a Master of Biology from the University of Regensburg and a PhD in Law from Humboldt University Berlin. A globally recognized climate policy expert, Streck co-founded and leads Climate Focus, a specialized consultancy, and previously served as Senior Counsel at The World Bank and lead counsel at McGill University's Center for International Sustainable Development Law.

Streck's research focuses on international climate governance, land sector mitigation strategies, and deforestation reduction policies. Her work bridges legal frameworks and practical implementation in climate adaptation and mitigation, particularly in forestry and food systems. She actively contributes to debates on carbon accounting and climate finance mechanisms.

Recent publications emphasize land-based climate solutions, analyzing their effectiveness across 15 countries and exploring synergies between climate and land use policies. Her research highlights the critical role of governance structures and stakeholder engagement in achieving climate targets.

Streck advises governments, private corporations, and NGOs on climate policy and serves on advisory/investment panels for sustainability initiatives. She chairs the Climate Strategies research network and has held leadership roles in climate law organizations.
