Dr Charlotte Stevens is a Lecturer in Media and Communication at Birmingham City University, where she contributes to academic programs and research in media studies. She is actively involved in the university's research community and co-leads the Game Cultures research cluster.
Charlotte's research focuses on television and fandom studies, with particular interest in archival and historical aspects of audiences. Her work explores how fans engage with media content across different platforms and historical periods. She has published research on fanvids, video game fan histories, screen vampires, and poetic television documentaries on the BBC. Currently, she is working on two projects: one examining fanzines and another investigating vids made using video game sources.
As co-leader of the Game Cultures research cluster, Charlotte helps guide a team of researchers exploring the intersection of gaming, culture, and media. Her current research projects on fanzines and game-based vids demonstrate her commitment to understanding evolving fan practices in digital media environments.
