Charlotte Sterling is a Research Fellow at Queen's University Belfast's School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences, affiliated with the Centre for Public Health. Her work focuses on public health, epidemiology, and aging-related research, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals. She holds a PhD in Diet, Lifestyle, and Musculoskeletal Health from Queen's University (2010).
Research interests include dietary patterns, cardiovascular risk, cognitive outcomes in aging populations, and the exposome. Key projects include the Northern Ireland Cohort for Longitudinal Study of Ageing (NICOLA) and studies on fruit/vegetable consumption impacts. She has been awarded the AFAR Beeson-CARDI Innovation Fund Award (2018) and the JD Williamson Prize (2014).
Recent activities include keynote talks at national/international conferences (e.g., Gerontological Association of America) and participation in longitudinal health studies. Her work integrates molecular data, accelerometry, and GIS to study urban environmental exposures and cognitive health.
