Charlotte Stehr is a Researcher at the University of Cologne's Faculty of Arts, Institute for German Language and Literature II. She currently serves as Research Associate in the Language Education Competence Center of the CHANCEN network (since March 2025) and in the DiSo-SGW project network (since August 2023), focusing on digital sovereignty in teacher training for languages, social sciences, and economics.
Her educational background includes studying German and social sciences for teaching at grammar schools and comprehensive schools at the University of Cologne (2015-2020). She works within the Working Group "Structure, Diagnostics and Promotion of Language Competencies" under Prof. Dr. Jörg Jost.
Charlotte's research focuses on practical applications of language education methodologies, particularly in reading strategy instruction, spelling pedagogy, and diagnostic tools for reading skills assessment. Her work bridges theoretical research with classroom implementation through multiple research projects including BiSS-Transfer (2020-2025) which utilized VERA-8 assessments for teacher development, and the Reference Vocabulary for Schools project at the Mercator Institute.
She teaches advanced BA seminars on topics including reading strategies (Summer 2023), spelling instruction (Winter 2022/2023, Summer 2022), and reading skills diagnosis (Winter 2021/2022, Summer 2021), emphasizing practical classroom application of theoretical concepts.
