Charlotte M. Pretzsch is a Research Fellow at King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, Department of Forensic & Neurodevelopmental Sciences. She completed her BSc in Neuroscience in Germany/USA (2014), MSc in UK (2015), and PhD in Neuroscience (2019) at King's College London, focusing on cannabinoids' effects on autism-related neural excitation/inhibition. Her work connects EU-AIMS (European Autism Interventions) consortium and Waterloo Foundation-funded projects.
Her research spans neurodevelopmental disorders, autism neurobiology, pharmacological imaging, and biomarker discovery. Key methods include MRI/fMRI, MRS, and genomic analyses. She has contributed to 23+ publications examining cortical thickness, functional connectivity, and molecular associations in autism, with recent 2025 work on fusiform gyrus face processing signatures.
Scientific recognition includes: IoPPN Academic Psychiatry Emerging Career Researcher Prize (2019), Early Career Research Award (2021), and Student/Trainee Travel Award (2021). She contributes to teaching as supervisor/examiner for MSc Clinical Neurodevelopmental Sciences and related programs.
