Dr. Charlotte Havermans is the Helmholtz Young Investigator Group Leader (NWG ARJEL) at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Bremerhaven, Germany. Her research focuses on atmospheric processes, particularly clouds, turbulence, and extratropical climate dynamics. The ARJEL group investigates atmospheric radiation, jet streams, and climate model evaluation using advanced numerical models and observational data. Key projects include studying cloud-resolving models, turbulent fluxes, and Arctic climate interactions through initiatives like FluxWIN and participation in the MOSAiC expedition. She employs satellite remote sensing, numerical simulations, and field data to advance understanding of atmospheric systems and their role in global climate change.
