Charlotte Hagström is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at Lund University's Department of Arts and Cultural Sciences within the Faculty of Humanities. She serves as Programme Coordinator for the Master's programme in Archival Studies, Library and Information Studies, and Museum Studies (ALM/ABM), and previously coordinated the Master of Applied Cultural Analysis (MACA) program from 2008-2022. Her academic home is in the Division of Ethnology and Archival Studies, where she has been deeply involved in developing curricula and teaching across multiple disciplines.
Dr. Hagström's research centers on transport history with particular emphasis on railways and cycling, alongside investigations into everyday life, collecting practices, personal names, identity formation, and family dynamics. Her work consistently examines how ordinary people create meaning in seemingly mundane aspects of daily existence. Her current major project, Railway Buffs. Commitment and Knowledge among Train and Railway Enthusiasts, explores the relationship between enthusiasts and cultural heritage institutions, examining points of cooperation and conflict while problematizing cultural notions of value and importance.
Her recent publications reveal a strong focus on transport history, particularly railway and cycling culture, while maintaining connections to broader themes of everyday life, material culture, and identity. Hagström's work demonstrates interdisciplinary reach across archival studies, ethnology, and cultural analysis, often connecting historical practices to contemporary social phenomena. She has developed particular expertise in understanding how leisure activities and collecting practices intersect with institutional knowledge production.

Her external engagement includes membership in the international research network Digitization and Future of Archives and the reference group for The Folklife Archives with the Scania Music Collections. Her professional experience extends beyond academia, including significant work as an archivist at The Folklife Archives (1999-2014) and as Research Coordinator at the Swedish Railway Museum in Gävle (2022-2024).
