Charlotte Gleghorn is a Senior Lecturer in Latin American Film Studies and Director of Research at the Department of European Languages and Cultures, University of Edinburgh. She holds a PhD from the University of Liverpool (2009) and an MA in World Cinemas from the University of Leeds (2005).

Her research focuses on Latin American cinema with emphasis on political memory, Indigenous and Afrodescendant filmmaking, landscape representation, and intercultural collaborations. She has led projects like Indigenous Cinematics (British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship 2023-24) and Creole Connections (AHRC/GCRF-funded platform launched in 2023-24).
Recent publications analyze Indigenous/collective authorship frameworks, Raizal geopolitics in Caribbean cinema, and affective labor in Afrodescendant media. She has supervised PhD projects on topics ranging from Afrocolombian music practice to Indigenous language representation in global cinema.
