Charlotte Boettiger, Ph.D., is a Professor at the UNC School of Medicine within the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience and affiliated with the Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies. Her research focuses on neurobiological mechanisms underlying addiction, particularly executive function irregularities linked to substance use disorders. She investigates reinforcement learning, reward selection biases, and attentional biases toward addictive cues. Boettiger has received notable recognition, including the 2015 Kavli Fellowship and UNC Faculty Assembly membership. Her work bridges translational research, exploring how brain mechanisms influence addiction treatment and recovery. She leads the Cognition and Addiction Neuroscience Lab and contributes to collaborative efforts in neuroimaging and behavioral studies.
