Charlotte Alverson is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Special Education within the College of Education at the University of Oregon. She serves as a technical assistance provider for the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT) and Director of Technical Assistance and Training for the Oregon Youth Transition Program.
Dr. Alverson holds the following academic credentials:

- Ed.S. in Special Education Administration from Idaho State University (2004)
- M.Ed. in Gifted and Talented Education from Murray State University (1994)
- B.S. in Special Education (Students with Moderate and Severe Disabilities) from Murray State University (1989)
Her research centers on secondary transition and post-school outcomes for students with disabilities, with specialized focus on autism spectrum disorders and intellectual/developmental disabilities. She investigates data-driven approaches to enhance secondary special education programming and leads NSF-funded initiatives to expand STEM education and career pathways for individuals with disabilities. Her work bridges academic research with practical implementation through statewide and national technical assistance frameworks.
Dr. Alverson actively seeks new doctoral students for the 2024-2025 academic year and currently co-leads a National Science Foundation grant advancing disability-inclusive STEM opportunities. Her technical assistance roles through NTACT and the Oregon Youth Transition Program directly translate research into educational practice across multiple states.
She operates within the Secondary Special Education and Transition research unit, directing the Oregon Youth Transition Program while providing national expertise through NTACT. Her thirteen years of prior classroom experience teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities informs her applied research and technical assistance methodology.
