Dr. Charline Depoorter is a postdoctoral researcher (Research Fellow) at the Department of Social Sciences, University of Basel, Switzerland, working under the Grabs Professorship. She conducts research on the implementation of due diligence laws in sustainable supply chains, including the EU Deforestation Regulation and EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive.

Her research focuses broadly on global governance for sustainable development, with a specific interest in trade-based sustainability instruments and tropical agri-food systems such as cocoa, coffee, and palm oil. She previously earned her doctorate from KU Leuven, Belgium, studying voluntary sustainability standards in agri-food and timber sectors, including fieldwork in Indonesia. She also holds a Master's in International Politics from KU Leuven and a Master's in Global Environment, Politics and Society from the University of Edinburgh, alongside professional experience as an Associate Economic Affairs Officer at UNCTAD.
