Charlie Jorge Fernández

Dr. Charlie Jorge Fernández is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands, specializing in Spanish Philology and Modern and Classical English Philology. His academic work focuses on Gothic literature, particularly the works of Irish Gothic authors and the concept of the uncanny in literary and cultural contexts.

• PhD in English Philology (2018), with a thesis on the hero figure in Charles Robert Maturin's Melmoth the Wanderer (1820).
• Member of the research group Estudios Culturales Británicos y Comparativos (BRICCS).
• Collaborates with the London Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on uncanny themes.

His teaching spans multiple disciplines, including English language instruction for hospitality and tourism programs, as well as literature and research supervision for English and Primary Education degrees.
