معرفی
Charley Xia is a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychology at the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences, University of Edinburgh. His work focuses on genomic architecture of cognitive traits and their interplay with socioeconomic and health factors through large-scale biobank analyses.
Education:
- PhD in Genetics and Molecular Medicine, University of Edinburgh (2018)
- MSc in Quantitative Genetics and Genome Analysis, University of Edinburgh (2013)
- BSc in Biological Science, Fudan University, China (2012)
Research Interests: Dr. Xia investigates the genetic and environmental determinants of cognitive functions, with emphasis on trait architecture modeling, gene-environment interactions in cognition, and longitudinal relationships between cognitive ability, socioeconomic position, and health outcomes. His methodology leverages UK Biobank-scale genomic datasets and quantitative genetics frameworks.
Scientific Awards:
- Advance HE associate fellowship (2018)
Supervision & Collaboration: Actively supervises PhD students including visiting researcher Lei Wei (2024-2026). Collaborates within W. David Hill's research group on cognitive genomics projects utilizing UK Biobank resources. Current work examines pleiotropic genetic effects across cognitive and socioeconomic phenotypes.
Research Environment: Based in the Psychology subject area of PPLS, his work integrates with Edinburgh's quantitative genetics expertise developed through prior Roslin Institute affiliations and IGMM doctoral training.
