Charles T. Yingling

Dr. Charles T. Yingling serves as Dean of the Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Reno. A first-generation college graduate, he holds a BSN from Loyola University Chicago, an MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and a DNP from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). His career spans nearly two decades at Carnegie R1 institutions, including leadership roles at UIC and the University of Michigan School of Nursing (UMSN).

• Research Focus: Health equity, marginalized populations (LGBTQ+, justice-involved individuals), and gender-affirming care.
• Funding: Secured over $6M in federal/private grants to improve healthcare access.

Recipient of the SAGE Award and Judith Lloyd Storfjell Distinguished Practice Award, he is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Nursing and American Association of Nurse Practitioners. At Orvis, he champions diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, particularly supporting Latinx, Indigenous, and first-generation students.
