Dr. Charles R. Granger is a Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor and Professor of Biology and Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) College of Education. He has directed 18 science education programs, including the St. Louis Regional Science and Technology Career Access Center, a $3.8 million NSF-funded initiative serving 1,200 K-12 students, and the Junior Science Programs, which he led for 39 years.
Research Interests: Dr. Granger specializes in science education, curriculum design, instructional technology, and gifted education. His work emphasizes pedagogy reform, problem-solving strategies, and enhancing teacher effectiveness through constructivist and critical theory frameworks. He has focused on building science literacy pipelines in underserved communities and integrating technology into secondary education.

- National Anderson Medal for the Business-Higher Education Forum and award for education partnerships

Labs & Teams: Dr. Granger co-founded the Regional Institute for Science Education with Monte C. Throdahl, collaborating with informal science institutions, schools, and the private sector. He also led the NSF-funded RECEPT consortium, which restructured math/science teacher preparation across six universities and six school systems.
