Dr. Charles Parrott is an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre & Performance Studies at Kennesaw State University (KSU). He teaches courses on performance studies, focusing on intersections between performance and culture, performance art, and literary performance. He directs the KSU Tellers storytelling troupe, which has performed at events such as the Atlanta Fringe Festival, Southern States Communication Association Conference, and DragonCon. His research interests include storytelling, performance pedagogy, performance ethnography, theatre history, and devised theatre.
Dr. Parrott's theatrical productions include Frankenstein’d and Bloody Pulp: Crisis in the American Comic Book, which he co-directed with Dr. Jim Davis. His scholarly work has been published in Storytelling, Self, and Society, American Communication Journal, and Text & Performance Quarterly. He frequently presents research at national conferences like the National Communication Association Annual Convention and regional gatherings such as the Southern States Communication Association Conference.
He has led the KSU Tellers in over 20 performances at schools, festivals, and academic conferences, emphasizing community engagement and interdisciplinary storytelling. His creative and academic work bridges performance theory, educational practices, and applied theatre for social impact.
