Charles Manski is a Board of Trustees Professor in the Department of Economics at Northwestern University. He earned his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973. His research spans econometrics, judgment and decision-making, and the analysis of public policy.
Research interests include econometric methodology, decision theory under uncertainty, treatment choice problems, and policy analysis. His work develops frameworks for credible inference and decision-making when facing partial identification problems.
Publications demonstrate sustained focus on statistical decision theory applications in health policy, clinical medicine, and social planning. Recent works address vaccination strategies during pandemics, health disparities in risk assessment, and methods for clinical trial analysis.
