Charles M. Marcus is the Boeing Johnson Endowed Chair Professor at the University of Washington, holding dual appointments in the Department of Physics (College of Arts & Sciences) and Materials Science and Engineering (College of Engineering). He joined UW in 2023 after serving as Villum Kann Rasmussen Professor at the Niels Bohr Institute and Scientific Director of Microsoft Quantum Lab–Copenhagen. His research focuses on experimental condensed matter physics, quantum coherent systems, and topological materials for quantum computing.

Labs & Affiliations: His laboratory resides in the NanoES building, and he teaches in both Materials Science and Engineering and Physics. Previously directed Harvard's Center for Nanoscale Systems (2006–2011) and the Center for Quantum Devices at the Niels Bohr Institute.
