معرفی
Dr. Charles Lim is an Associate Professor and NRF Fellow (Class of 2019) at the National University of Singapore, affiliated with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Centre for Quantum Technologies. His research focuses on quantum cybersecurity and quantum communications, with a key emphasis on the practical security of quantum cryptography including quantum key distribution and quantum random number generation.
His research pioneers real-world quantum cryptographic systems, achieving breakthroughs like the world's longest-distance QKD implementation (Nature Photonics, 2015) and fastest QKD system (Science Advances, 2017). This work transforms theoretical quantum security into high-speed, quantifiably secure cryptosystems for practical deployment.
Dr. Lim has received several prestigious awards:
- NRF Fellow (Class of 2019)
- Singapore Young Scientist Award (2019)
He actively shapes industry standards through ISO QKD framework development and quantum technology consulting, while leading an NRF Quantum Engineering Programme collaboration with Imec to create chip-based quantum cryptographic devices.
His work is anchored at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, where he directs international R&D teams advancing quantum cybersecurity hardware and protocols.
