Dr Charisse Farr is a Senior Lecturer in Secondary Mathematics Education at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), based in the School of Education within the Faculty of Creative Industries, Education & Social Justice. Her research focuses on Mathematics Education, Teacher Education, and STEM, with expertise in Bayesian Networks and Applied Statistics. She holds a PhD and Bachelor of Applied Science (Mathematics) from QUT.
Her work spans educational technologies, Bayesian network applications in airport wayfinding, disease modeling (e.g., HIV/AIDS, chlamydial infection), and teacher training. Key projects include developing student-centered frameworks for community engagement and exploring factors affecting PhD completion. She has received the 2014 QUT Vice Chancellor’s Performance Award for Teaching and Learning.
Teaching areas include secondary mathematics pedagogy, STEM education, calculus, and statistics. She collaborates with industry and academia on complex systems research, such as airport navigation and public health interventions.
