Charalampos Tsourakakis is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at Boston University. He holds a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University's Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Optimization program, a Master's from CMU's Machine Learning Department, and a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. Before joining BU, he worked as a researcher at Google Brain and served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University.
His research focuses on large-scale graph mining, machine learning, and data analytics, with notable contributions to algorithms for dense subgraph detection, motif-based community analysis, and opinion dynamics modeling. Tsourakakis has delivered tutorials at ACM SIGKDD and designed graph mining libraries integrated into Windows Azure. He has been recognized with a Best Paper Award at IEEE Data Mining.
He teaches courses such as Foundations of Data Science (CS365) and Graduate Algorithms (CS630) at BU, and has previously instructed at institutions like the University of Cyprus and Aalto University. His work bridges theoretical computer science with practical applications in network analysis, privacy-preserving algorithms, and algorithmic social science.
