His academic work is complemented by significant professional roles as the advisory member of the New Taipei City Museum Development Committee and as the Correspondent of the Asian Network of Industrial Heritage.
Dr. Li's research interests focus on how people produce, interpret and consume heritage within changing cross-cultural contexts. His scholarly work centers on industrial heritage, particularly examining Taiwan's coal mining landscapes, forestry heritage, and railway heritage. He explores the relationship between heritage interpretation and its (re)use through contextual narratives, with particular attention to how shifting values in heritage impact communities.
His publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly output from 2014-2022, with a notable concentration of work in 2018-2020. The articles reveal a strong thematic focus on Taiwan's industrial heritage development, with particular emphasis on colonial-era industrialization (1895-1945), community engagement with heritage sites, and the reinterpretation of industrial landscapes for contemporary purposes. His work spans disciplinary boundaries, connecting cultural heritage studies with urban planning, museum studies, and tourism development.
Dr. Li actively participates in international scholarly discourse on industrial heritage, having presented at multiple conference sessions focusing on Taiwan's coal mining landscapes and railway heritage. His work bridges academic research with practical heritage management applications, particularly in the Asian context through his involvement with the Asian Network of Industrial Heritage.
