Dr. Chao Chen is a Professor of Computer Engineering and Director of the Graduate Program in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University Fort Wayne. She holds a Ph.D. from Georgia Institute of Technology and has extensive experience in wireless networking, edge computing, and network security. Her research focuses on IoT device connectivity, hardware/software co-design for edge devices, adversarial attacks, routing in wireless networks, and spectrum monitoring in cognitive radio networks.
Education:
- Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology (2003–2005)
- B.E. and M.E. in Electrical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China (1998–2001)
Research Interests: Dr. Chen's work emphasizes improving networked systems through machine learning, optimization, and performance evaluation. She explores topics such as secure IoT communication, adversarial defense mechanisms, and energy-efficient wireless protocols.
