Changdong Yeo serves as Professor and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Affairs in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech University's Whitacre College of Engineering.
His educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2008)
- M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Yonsei University, South Korea (1998)
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Yonsei University, South Korea (1996)
Dr. Yeo's research centers on multi-scale material behaviors, electrical/magnetic properties of advanced materials, contact mechanics, and surface/interface mechanics. As director of the Materials and Interface Mechanics Laboratory, he investigates thermomechanical/chemical behaviors of advanced materials with emphasis on electrical/magnetic properties, surface degradation, and material transfer phenomena. His work bridges fundamental mechanics with practical material science applications.
His notable scientific recognitions include:
- Ed and Linda Whitacre Faculty Fellowship (2020)
- Whitacre Engineering Research Award (2015)
Dr. Yeo advises students in the Materials and Interface Mechanics Laboratory while maintaining industry connections from prior R&D engineering roles at Samsung Electronics and Seagate Technology. His leadership extends to undergraduate academic administration as Associate Chair.
The Materials and Interface Mechanics Laboratory serves as his primary research hub for experimental and theoretical investigations into advanced material systems.
