Chang Xu is a Lecturer in Developmental Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast since September 2022. Previously, they earned all three degrees (BA, MA, PhD in Developmental Psychology) from Carleton University (2008–2018) and served as a postdoctoral research fellow there. Their research focuses on cognitive developmental psychology, particularly mathematical cognition, number integration, and second-language learning in mathematics. They investigate how children develop mathematical skills, especially in bilingual contexts, and design interventions to improve educational outcomes. Xu’s work emphasizes the role of home numeracy environments, cross-cultural comparisons, and the interplay between language and mathematical proficiency.
